Troja Castle in Prague

Trojsky Zamek is mostly known as Troja Castle, Troja Palace, or Troja Chateau in English (all these names refer to the same landmark). It is situated on the right bank of the Vltava River in the district of Troja, opposite to the main entrance to Prague Zoo. Troja Castle is surrounded by a neat garden and overlooked by a hill with wineyards. Above Troja Castle there is also the Botanical Garden of Prague.

A good location for accommodation near Troja Castle is the district of Holesovice, which is situated across the river from Troja and has frequent direct tram and bus connections to Prague Zoo and Troja Castle. There are good hotels especially near National Gallery or Prague Expo Centre (Vystaviste) and Stromovka Park in Holesovice. Although there are good public transport connections, you can also walk from Vystaviste to Troja if you like – it is a very pleasant walk taking 20-30 minutes through Stromovka Park and over a pedestrian bridge over the Vltava River and Cisarsky Island. Another advantage of Holesovice as a place to stay is its location halfway between Troja and Prague historical centre.
