Prague National Museum and Muzeum Station
At the upper end of Prague’s Wenceslas Square, behind the statue of St. Wenceslas, there is a big historical building, occupying the whole width of the square – the National Museum (Narodni Muzeum in Czech). Below the museum building there is one of Prague’s busiest metro stations, Muzeum Station, the interchange of lines A and C. Public transport access and proximity to Wenceslas Square shops, restaurants, and clubs are what makes the area around the National Museum the right place to stay in Prague for many visitors. There are several hotels right at Wenceslas Square and even more hotels in the adjacent streets.

Best hotel locations near National Museum
Besides the obvious choice – Wenceslas Square – there are several streets with hotels going from National Museum to all sides. The widest choice of hotels is in the streets between Wenceslas Square and Prague Main Train Station (Hlavni Nadrazi, about 5 minutes walk from National Museum) – the streets’ names are Opletalova, Washingtonova, and Politickych Veznu.
Streets on the opposite side of Wenceslas Square (to the south) also have several good hotels. Try Stepanska or Ve Smeckach Street.

There is a busy street running from National Museum to the east – Vinohradska Street. However, there are not as many hotels in Vinohradska, probably because this street actually takes you away from the city centre and its attractiveness as a hotel location declines as you get further away from National Museum.

Besides the area around Wenceslas Square, there are several other typical hotel districts in Prague. One of the most popular places is of course Prague Old Town, the medieval centre of the city (room rates can be higher here in many hotels). Many people also choose hotels on the other side of the river in the romantic Lesser Quarter, which is connected with the Old Town by the well-known Charles Bridge.
